But oh, the dilemma: teach ID as a "science" and expect "art" from practitioners!

I'm reminded of the professor who had an unpublished study about grads of different ID programs. You could tell the program of new grads by their designs. 10 years of experience later, you couldn't discriminate the grads until they *talked* about their designs!

Wonder if those 'locked down' ID models post-school are to deal with the many designers who haven't had ID training...
